Best Boating In Paradise: Let Us Show You How It's Done
Community Service
A particularly important commitment of the America’s Boating Club of Sanibel – Captiva is Community Service. Whether through volunteering time or donating much-needed items or supporting other non-profits, members contribute significantly to Sanibel-Captiva and its surrounding communities.
Our Legacy Programs of Volunteerism have been in place for years and have impacted the lives of generations of boaters. These include providing Vessel Safety Checks, teaching at the Sanibel School, and hosting on-the-water Education cruises. These programs are so much part of our organization that participating is almost automatic.
Yet, in so many ways, we reach out and support other non-profits
•A Holiday tradition is the Toy Drive for the kids connected to the Harlem Heights Foundation• |
|
•Another tradition has been collecting gently-used eye glasses for the Lions Club
•A few times each year, members collect food for the local pantry at F.I.S.H.
•One month (March, not surprisingly), we collected member donations for the “March of Dimes.”
•Each year, we boat to Picnic Island for a “clean-up” of an amazing assortment of garbage.
•Of particular importance to our members is our connection to “Captains for Clean Waters,” a growing organization committed to making/keeping out surrounding waters clean. |
Quite honestly, the list is quite long. As result of our extensive Community Service, in 2017 (and for several years previous to then), our club has been honored at the national level by Boat US for its distinguished work in civic service.
When you join America’s Boating Club of Sanibel-Captiva, you benefit enormously; likewise, you’ll have the opportunity to give back just as much!
Plan on lending a Helping Hand!
